چکیده

We report new high resolution (0.6 − 1.7′′) images of GM Aur in the 12CO J = 2→1 line and the 1.3 and 2.7 mm continuum. The dust disk, located at the center of the CO disk, is resolved by the 0.6′′ beam of the interferometer. We derive a minimum radius of ∼ 200 AU, and a total mass (dust+gas) of about ∼ 0.025M . Our CO observations also resolve the Keplerian rotation of the gas disk. Since the CO emission is optically thick, the CO data does not allow a disk mass measurement but we can estimate the dynamical mass of the system, i.e. the stellar mass, M∗ = 0.84 ± 0.05 × (D/140 pc)M although a solution with a more inclined disk and lower stellar mass (∼ 0.6M ) is also possible.

We obtained high angular resolution (∼2 ′′) images of the 13 CO(J=1→0) line and 2.7 millimeter continuum emission, and slightly lower resolution images of 12 CO(J=1→0) and C 18 O(J=1→0) line emission toward the Herbig Ae star AB Aurigae. We resolve a circumstellar disk of diameter 780 AU (FWHM) with a velocity pattern consistent with a purely rotational disk at inclination 21.5 • and position a...

Nicmos Coronagraphic Observations of the Gm Aurigae Circumstellar Disk

We present Hubble Space Telescope Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) coronagraphic observations of the environment in the region of the young star-disk system GM Aurigae. Scattered near-infrared light in two spectral bands (F110W = 1.1 lm and F160W = 1.6 lm) trace the morphology of circumstellar dust to a distance of 700 AU from the star. An 300 AU radius outwardly flar...

Evolution of protoplanetary disks: Constraints from DM Tauri and GM Aurigae

We present a one-dimensional model of the formation and viscous evolution of protoplanetary disks. The formation of the early disk is modeled as the result of the gravitational collapse of an isothermal molecular cloud. The disk’s viscous evolution is integrated according to two parameterizations of turbulence: The classical α representation and a β parameterization, representative of non-linea...

Constraints on a planetary origin for the gap in GM Aurigae ’ s protoplanetary disc

The unusual spectral energy distribution (SED) of the classical T Tauri star GM Aurigae provides evidence for the presence of an inner disc hole extending to several au. Using a combination of hydrodynamical simulations and Monte Carlo radiative transport, we investigate whether the observed SED is consistent with the inner hole being created and maintained by an orbiting planet. We show that a...

Gas and Dust Emission at the Outer Edge of Protoplanetary Disks

We investigate the apparent discrepancy between gas and dust outer radii derived from millimeter observations of protoplanetary disks. Using 230 and 345 GHz continuum and CO J=3-2 data from the Submillimeter Array for four nearby disk systems (HD 163296, TW Hydrae, GM Aurigae, and MWC 480), we examine models of circumstellar disk structure and the effects of their treatment of the outer disk ed...
